What an Idea Sirjii!!

According to a famous saying, “an idea is like a fart. It can strike you and surprise you anytime. So forcefully thinking upon it is of no use”.

Sorry Dude, according to a modern theory, this crap is not possible if you are in the business of advertising. This infamous business thrives heavily on ideas generated on fingertips. You just can’t wait for an idea but have to actually produce it.

Just look at the situation. A Copywriter** is given the most dreadful of the problems by his agency and then he’s expected to come up with path breaking solutions. His situation is like that he’s kicked into a sea without a life-jacket. Or he’s left into a jungle which is only full of hungry carnivores. By default, every time this creature is expected to escape the narrow death. That is, he has to come up with an idea.

The Question is, is generating rapid ideas really possible? If yes then how? How come a copywriter (who proclaims himself as the next writing sensation) can gift this world idea after ideas???## Where the hell his big ideas or I shall say frequent farts comes from??

Does it come from observing other exceptional advertisements? But that only leaves him in awe that “how can someone be that creative”? Or does he derive it by just approaching the King of Problem Solving i.e. “Baba Google”? Or by falling into the trap of having a ginger tea or tobacco or utterly butterly delicious chocolates assuming that it might kick start the jammed engines of his brain?

What if his all sophisticated methods fail? Does he leave everything and hit a bar or a pub or any damn place where booze is available? Or does he find some inspiration in Shakira’s shaking and lying hips, or to the tunes of RD Burman, or watching Rajnikant wearing a lungi and beating 35 henchmen in one go. Random Stuff, you know!!!

As per my experience, after being exposed to so much, our poor fellow might come up with something. But his desire for that “Big Idea” leaves him unconvinced.

He asks stupid questions from his roommates, family, friends even neighbours and his maid to find his consumer insight. He flips newspaper, traces history, play scrabble and what not. Sometimes he goes for a walk, or just gaze at the sky or a tubelight, writes random stuff then tear it all, then write again and tear again. This nonsense goes for a while. Watching porn is always an option. His indulgence in sex is an indication that he’s going through a creative block.

Now you all wanna know that whether this jackass has finally hit the bull’s-eye or is he still lurking around? The irony is that many Copywriters get the best idea when the campaign is over. Even our guy hasn’t come up with the big idea and might come up after the marketing campaign which is to be presented in next 48 hours.

Now this is what happens:

He reaches office the next day without his big idea. He has tried all his formulas but he hasn’t reached the answer. Though he has some not so unique ideas to present and he has definitely not lost the hope. So he is just involved in daily chores like chatting, printing, coffee, peeing and flirting. And when he has nothing to do, the thunderbolt strikes him. He freezes for a moment because he has got the criminal i.e. the idea. The idea that was absconding till now is with him. So like a fart it just hits him. It was approved or not is another story.

The question is whether by stressing too much you’ll get the idea or you need to work it out??? In our boy’s case he worked hard but he has to wait for “The Golden Moment”. As they say “Soch kahi bhi aa sakti hai”.

The quote like “An idea can change your life” is too exaggerated for a common man but for a copywriter An Idea actually does so. His entire way of living is chained around that realisation and enlightenment of what we all say “The big Idea”!!!

Shealmost reached that stage 5 years back but was forced to wait more when shebroke her ankle in the semifinals.

Advised by the physicians not to participate in danceanymore, she refused to adhere. She decided to give her one last shot. After 5years of shedding sweat & blood too, and going through that extra pain sheis again knocking the doors of her biggest dream. The dream which only she cansee. She is standing on that very thin line between her biggest desire andreality. If she wins today she will be the most aged lady to do so in thisevent’s 150 year old history.

Dancing on Beethoven’s Symphony and dressed as an angry &vengeance full queen she is portraying the rarest seen images of the woman. Theimage when woman attains the avatar of destruction, when she is alone butdangerous. When she survived on her own and she is her own ruler.

Let’s sink in Amna’s performance and let’s live this dreamwith her.

Ourgreat Indian family is like a movie in which everybody has a fixed role & fixeddialogs. In which someone is rich while someone is poor. Some is bad and someis good. Its rich history and present story is nothing less than a gossipmagazine. Alike the famous James Bond everyone keeps their eyes and ears openin anticipation of something big. Like a common man the good guyz always sit inthe corner and repent on their life. Like politicians and villains the bad guysalways had the last laugh. Every one competes to show off heavily in the familyfunctions.

In thishuge Starcast there is one actor on whom the spotlight is because his criticalrole influences the entire story. He is dangerous, he is naughty, and above allhe is a sort of criminal. He possesses nuclear power; he can hold anybody’scollar. The truth is that he enjoys and misuses his uncontrolled authority. Heis none other than the “Jamaai Raja”

Whetheryou are the Great Khali or the Bheem, a tycoon or an oxford return, acelebrity or the head of the family you are always option less and have to obeyto your dwarf size “Jeeja”. Thisreminds me of my bulky college friend who use to miss several lectures becausehis great Jijaaji---a return from Kanpur was residing at his home.

I neverunderstood who gave this jackass such supreme powers. I mean he too is scoldedby his parents like others, beaten by his wife and he too fears loss in thebusiness. So why he behaves as if he is the Brahma,Vishnu and Mahesh when he reaches his Sasural and demands not only thefamily’s attention but entire locality’s.

When afather comes to know that this summer his daughter will be accompanied by her“poor--half”, he is alarmed. As if, the auditors are coming to inspect theaccount books. A cleanliness drive is ordered, new utensils are taken out, anddishes which even poor Gharwaalas don’t get to eat are prepared. Even childrenof the house are taught manners and also English. The brother in laws getsready for the boss and his annual trip. After the last minute preparations,everybody is at toes. Facilities which Jeeja gets are world-class and it isensured that everything is served to him first as if he is the Lord Ganesha anddeserves the “Bhog”.

The 5.5feet inch Jeeja with 25 feet inch ego makes comment on everything. He behavesas a newborn where everybody should always accompany him or else the 2 weeks longtrip will be cut short to 7 days. The family takes a deep breath only after theextravagant Jeeja trip is over. The family head announces that “thecommonwealth is successfully over—time to look over the debts and hugeunnecessary investments made”.

Leavingthe sarcasm and satire, the question is why Jeeja is “The Jeeja” in our society. Why he becomes “The Godfather”at his in laws though he might be an unsuccessful bank clerk throughout his life.Ironically it is a vicious cycle. In this man dominated Indian society, the mencarved out for them a niche avatar. An avatar to enjoy worldly pleasures, livea royal life and forget about their failures for some time when they are attheir In-Laws by behaving as the undisputed king. So any man whether successfulor contrary gets into his Jeeja avatar to relive a life he always dreamt of. Sowhen these disturbed animals become a Jeeja, they pour their frustration overtheir Saala (brother in law). And that Saala pour that frustration over hisSaala (brother in law). And the Saala cycle keeps paddling.

In allit is this evil spirit of Jeeja which should be blamed for the downside ofwomen. He should always be parceled to hell for the injuries caused to thestatus of women. Who doesn’t desire a girl child but the scary thought ofmarrying your doll to a rascal Jeeja doesn’t go down well with many. And thethought of capitulating to his unending and unwanted demands terrify even thebravest of souls but above all, the thought of tolerating that Jeeja and hisidiosyncrasies for your entire life can even force Mahatma Gandhi to violence.

Sadly, aJeeja is like an outsider who sits at the top of the ladder of a family andregulates the thread of all puppets.

PostScript: Teach your Jeeja a lesson. Marry your girl to an educated and down toearth man. Teach her self-respects. Above all never ever give in to hisdemands. Let’s eliminate this never required avatar of “Jeeja”.

India is like a child whose bones are weak. It is like a housebased on a weak establishment. The tree whose roots are loosening. The trainthe tyres of which are squelching.
I simple words if I say that the South Asian giant India iscurrently burning then I wonder there will be hardly any debate. The meaning isthat the world’s second fastest growing economy is in a complete mess and is almostin the den of a civil war. To understand my point, just recapitulate what isbeen in the news for the last 6 months. In the extreme north, heaven of theworld, Kashmir, is a living hell.Young Kashmir’s are fighting a virtual freedom war. It seems as if sacrificingtheir life in the name of revolution is glory to them.

Almost entire North EastIndia is declared a Red Corridor, thus totally out of India’s control.Tribals have chosen violence as their weapon and adopted Naxalism. In theSubcontinent, juvenile students of OsmaniaUniversity have brought the entire central government to a standstill withtheir vociferous demand for a separate Telangana.

These are just the HEADLINES.Inside stories are that committing suicide looks an easier option to Indianfarmers, families are assassinating their own children in the name of honorkilling, illiterate communities are in a race to obtain the SC/ST/OBC statustag, illegal mining is on all time high, the current government is the mostcorrupt in our history with scams being unveiled every day, tigers will vanishsoon, poor have become poorer, roads are still to be reached to many villagesand above all the world will make sure that we get no chance in the future tohost any international game event especially Commonwealth.

Hitherto in all my articles I have only talked about India’s tribulations.But in this special edition I will only deal with solutions to prevent thisunstable ship from sinking. These days Planning Commission of India isin a brown study drawing the contours of our 12^th Five Year Plan. Myhumble suggestion to them is----leave everything aside and focus all yourcylinders to THREE ground breaking reforms.

First is my personal favorite-----“Literate minds”. India’s existing populationaccommodates all kinds of good, bad and ugly citizens in it. Our country’s bones are weak because itnever consumed education rich milk. With a literacy rate of 66% (2009) majority of problems we are facing today is because of some badguys who never went to schools or never picked a book. Result, today they makethe most hue and cries, infact most of them lead us and represent us in Indian Parliament.

So what is gone is gone. Look towards the future. And the futurebelongs to those born in this century. Children of India are the most potentialresource of the country---if we commit ourselves to gift them with a dynamiceducation. When I say education---I implyplethora of primary schools, passionate teachers, and abundant sports and neversay never to ECA activities. This supplemented with a healthy and a regular midday meal for the underprivileged. And this supported with a Pandora’s Box ofhigher education. A higher education which doesn’t mean selling degrees butselling dreams. Helping every child to unveil and discover his calling forlife. Institutions which are not a burden for the government but so gigantic inthemselves that they become the brand ambassadors of excellence and perfection.Above all an education system which creates a pool of skilled labor for us.Which feeds Ethics, Morals and Truth to our kids in abundance. Which Portrayscorruption as a dragon. Which plants the seed of a non corrupt Indian veryearly in their life.

So just imagine---15 to 20 years from now. Almost every child ofgeneration X, Y or Z who is not only healthy but also literate i.e. buy one getsone free. They are the agents of change. With them it will be an uprisingof a new India. An educated India where more than 50% of the non-sense problemsrelated to religion, caste, community, sex, temple and mosque will vanishautomatically. The outcome will be that we don’t have to lose sleep over poorshow at Olympics, excessive crime rate, corrupt politicians, lazy governmentservices, unethical business houses, riots, problems of not enough scientist orresearchers, no world class films, no cleanliness, overflowing population,scams after scams after scams etc etc etc because our new educated India willtake over everything and will definitely bring the much needed change. So if our policymakers want this. Then theyshould invest more than 50% of India’s GDP to education.

2^nd Reform

I opened my mouth and threw my theory about education but it isonly possible in an environment which is calm and secure. Any disturbance inthe society simply gives a blow to schools and colleges and they take the mosttime to recover.

So 2^nd reform talks about Police. Police is the leading criminal in India.Crooked police and their insane system give birth to more bad guys and badgirls than anybody else. They force a common man towards bribery. Theythemselves indulge in rape and sexual exploitation. Ironically they are familyto affluent and useless to victim.

Law Courts, CID, CBI, state governments and other authoritiesintervene much later in any crime then police who are the first problem solvers.If these corrupt asses act as per their power then most of the criminals willbe booked, cases will be solved, victims will get the justice leading to lowpendency of court cases, almost no formation of useless committees or highlycorrupt CBI getting any charge to investigate further and creating more messand more crime. In a nutshell Police breads criminals. By not taking thedesired action they encourage them and turn victims into vigilantes.

In all, police is in a dying need for reform. When I say Police Reform I mean getting veryhealthy salary so that they don’t even think about taking a bribe. Second is toreform their entire system defining carefully what they can and what can’t doavoiding them from being a puppet. Encouraging them to uncover their corrupt bosses.Providing our policemen with state of the art weapons. Above all make it a lucrativejob for talented and brave individuals to enter.

3^rd reform

Now the county is educated and the police are also doing itsjob. But think for a moment when children of today complete education and assumeresponsibility tomorrow. Their morale and energy is severely hit by nonavailability of pure water and pure oxygen. Very high priced fuel, LPG, fruits and vegetablesdiverts their focus from development. Because the environment is full ofpollution, it is very hot and there is a fight for everyday resources.

So 3rd reform is tosave and protect the environment. Let’s not suck the resources. Then only wecan dream that these soldiers whom we have trainedand protected fight our war, a war for better tomorrow, a war for development,a war for equality and a war for a better India.

When I say Environment Reforms I mean:

Huge investments in cleanresources
Genesis of a fuel alternative topetrol & diesel
Saving clean water which is nearto death

You might argue that there are 1000’s of reforms demandingpriority so why these THREE. My message to you is that these 3 reforms are the Papa and Mummy of all solutions. Theyare like a vision, a difficult path walked today to reap the benefits tomorrow.With them we too have to work on infrastructure, health, law, agriculture etc.

In India we never focus on the root problems but try toeliminate the branches. Like we never invest either in R&D or a perfectdistribution system for farmers. Instead we are proud in giving reliefpackages.

With these 3 reforms we will build a house with an unswervingbase, a non leaking roof and an efficient sewage system.

In oneof the Sunday issue of Brunch, Editor in Chief of HT Media------Vir Sanghavi wrote extensively on thearoma and fragrance of different scents and cologne being invented in theworld. But I democratically feel that his article was incomplete because heonly mouthed about the one side of the coin i.e. the positive and themanufactured smell which everybody loves to inhale. But the missing part wasthe negative and the natural smell which is also present in this world and whichwe all hate.

SoTHINKING CAP has bore the responsibility to talk ostentatiously of sucharrogant and criminal type of smells which have the balls to even kill you leavingno option but to inhale it and die painfully.

1. As I have travelled enormously through publictransport system so I can accept that I am not a stranger to itscharacteristics like too many people, tiny spaces, low price, jerks etc. But oneof the most peculiar features of it is the smell ofthe sweat. When passengersranging from tiny teens to pension earners, from a boring housewife to a virginblonde to breadwinners all lift their hand or hands in unity to take supportand guard against the jerks. Raising hands release the aroma of sweat in theatmosphere, sweat which they have earned throughout the day by completing differentfiles, selling unsalable products, standing in queues and performing dailychores. I call it the “mix vegetable” of sweat as everyone contributes towardsit. Slowly and gradually the vegetable gains pace & mass and turns in ahurricane. It reaches every corner of the vehicle. The irony is such that youare standing in front of a middle aged male inhaling his sweat into your lungsand still smiling at the rascal and vice-versa.

2. I personally feel that the insane smell of “Gutka”can turn the furniture inside your body upside-down. The business houses createaddictive brands like “Rajdarbaar”, “Kuber” and “RajniGandha” to create an illusion of luxury to the consumer and makehim tour heaven for some minutes. At the time of consuming unexpectedly one ofthese knuckleheads approaches you, takes his face very close to yours infact toyour nostrils, wide open his “Gutka”filled mouth and proudly inquires “Bhaitime kya hua hai” or sometimes “yebus khaa jaayegi”. And you lose your wicket. You are in asituation where somebody has released poison inside your blood and has left youfor a slow painful death.

3. This one is my personal favorite. Every day youinhale it and that too happily, like you’re worshipping. The non-violent, nondangerous smell of the food you could not digest i.e. theperfume of defecation. Every morning, sitting in the mostcomfortable position, relaxed as never, you inhale it dedicatedly. You arechoice less because this activity makes you blissful and full of joy. SometimesI wonder that how come the Fried Rice which I was dying to eat a night beforecan betray me and behind that rich and healthy smell there was hidden a nonthinkable smell like this one. But this smell had always gifted me some wildestideas.

4. If the previous one was my personal favoritethen this is my personal non-favorite. The problem with this smell is that itattacks you like an earthquake and you are not even prepared for it. As anearthquake creates a lot of havoc and destruction this smell too destroys yourmood completely and makes life a hell. Theperfume of a dead rat. First you hate thesejackass monsters roaming in your home or office and breaking your privacy. Andthen these fuckers hid in one of the damn corners of the home and breathe theirlast breath. The trouble is that his body is lying and decaying in some part ofyour home, smells like thousands drains flowing next to you and you don’t evenhave the slightest idea where the asshole is. You actually want to butcher himon his this sinful act.

5. I guess this particular smell flows only in theair of developing nations especially India. And this is not a smell but a shamefor our country. All other smells above are like a free bird. Nobody cancontrol them. But this shameless smell we can definitely stop. This is the perfume of pee on Indian roads. Toattend nature’s call some people look for isolated corners and pee on them. Aswe are Indians so we all follow. As a result the place officially becomes a peepoint and gives a distinct character to the place because of its smell.

In thislist of developing nations smell, there is another chap which I guess ismultiplying and is in race with our “never say die” population growth. The perfume of the swollen, perished, abandoned anddecaying garbage. The implied rule in India is that every single pieceof the garbage should be outside the garbage warehouse thus converting thewhole place in a bin, making a choice for people to throw anywhere or everywhere.As we ourselves create such smell so we anticipate it when crossing a garbagewarehouse and clamp our nostrils till the smell stop chasing us.

6. The last in the series is a sinful, dead,negative and dreadful smell which is a question in itself. If you want toinhale it, then go and open the drawer or closet where you have stockedmedicines for emergency. Or pay a visit to a dispensary, hospital or a chemist.The smell of medicines. Why the smell ofmedicines which are actually developed to cure human beings makes me even sickeris still mysterious to me.

Sothese are the dirty, naughty, notorious and infamous brand of smell whosetyranny we have to suffer almost every day. And they are unbearable is no doubtbut they have given an opportunity to crazy thinkers of the world to find outtheir antidotes. There would have been no perfume if there is no sweat and noroom freshener if no smell of the dead rat.

Pleasedon’t perceive that as I have given a lot of space to these smells, I like or lovethem. Like normal people I too wanna inhale and live in scented and healthy air.

"A COMPLETE NONSENSE"

Just a few steps away from my home there is a very famous road inWest Delhi called “Sanatan Dharam Road”On the road stand a large Hindu Temple, a beautiful Sikh Gurudwara and a cuteChristian Church. The 3 symbols of 3 religions share a common wall with oneanother. They are like 3 brothers standing next to each other----tall, unitedand peaceful. If on Sunday the church is bubbling with Christian prayers, thenon Gurupurav the Gurudwara organises a lavish “langar” on the famous road where everybody is invited impartiallyfor the feast. And on Janmashtmi, Diwali or other numerous Hindu festivalsthe temple gets overcrowded with devotees. For secular people like me it’s likea festival which is celebrated round the year. Every religion contributing. Similarlyin Mathura (UP), my mother’s birthplace and also Lord Krishna’s, just next tovery famous and ancient Krishnajanm-bhoomiwe have a mosque which adds to the beauty of the place.

These are just two examples of Secularism which I came across.There will be many. So why, why and why somebody please tell me why we arefighting like cats and dogs and that too wild ones over a tiny piece of land inAyodhya for not years, not decadesbut over a half a century???

I don’t want to talk about history and divulge from my point. Thepoint is not that this place belongs to X or it belongs to Y. The point is thata mosque (Babri) was there and in a country where policy makers bark to theworld that we are secular how can we even tolerate to allow insane people todemolish the structure just on the assumption that earlier there was a RamTemple. And if the sin was committed then why sinners were not arrested andpunished severely at that time only??

Just think for the moment that many of India’s great monumentsare built by Muslim rulers because they rule India for many years. We don’teven know what they broke or what they destroyed to build such magnificent structureswhich are all world heritage sites today. Tomorrow if somebody stands up andstarts shouting that Taj Mahal was built over a place where there was a templeof XYZ God. So are we going to destroy Taj Mahal? Just think!!!!

Do we even know that Babri case has given rise to insecurityamong Muslims? It has perpetuated terrorism in India and around the world. Theterrorist organizations quote Babri’sexample to young boys when turning them anti-Indian and a complete terrorist.Infact many Muslims have started perceiving that India is not for Muslims and thecountry is trying to erase Islam within it.

In Ayodhya there arelots of mosques and a lot of temples. And the controversial piece of land is solarge that it can accommodate both a temple and a mosque. Nobody has the proofthat there stood a temple but we all know that Babri was there for centuries and we must believe what we see.

Now what has happened---has happened. To maintain peace andbrotherhood either both mosque and a temple should be build there or the landbe declared “No man’s Land”. The best solution which I discovered onFacebook is to build a HOSPITAL there for everybody or a GREEN PARK as a symbolof togetherness. The court has to maintain the balance between two sensitiveparties; a little extra weight on either side will give politicians anotherchance to wage riots and violence. Though a SEMIFINAL DECISION has come butsome troublemakers are still crying and planning to approach Supreme Court. Sothe saga has not ended.

PostScript: Common man like you and me is least interested in thisnon-sense. But we are scared of this decision and expecting riots. The morethis country will gossip about religion the least develop we will be!!!!

STRANGER 1: Hi (to another stranger). Can you please pass me that “Time” magazine”?

STRANGER 2 GIVES THE MAGAZINE TO HIM. STRANGER 1, UNINTERESTED IN THE MAGAZINE IS UNABLE TO IGNORE THE BOREDOM AND FEELS RESTLESS. HE WANTS TO TALK TO SOMEBODY.

STRANGER 1 (after a while): Hey!! What you think……….snow will stop??

STRANGER 2 (seems uninterested): It will, if it has to.

STRANGER 1: Yaaaaaaa. I wish they had cancelled my flight. By the way I’m Shahnawaz. Shahnawaz Khan (forwards his hand to the Stranger 2).

STRANGER 2: (Shaking the hand) Hi!!!! Myself Dev. Dev Mehra (still uninterested in the talks)!!!!

SHAHNAWAZ: So DEV, where are you heading?

DEV LOOKS AT SHAHNAWAZ FOR A WHILE. DOESN’T SAY A WORD. BUT SHAHNAWAZ IS DESPERATE TO KNOW AND GIVES AN IMPRESSION THAT HE HAS 1000 QUESTIONS

DEV: I am…....I’m going to Pakistan (says softly).

SHAHNAWAZ: Pa….Pakistan (says questionably)??? But you look like a Hindu?? Are you in media?

DEV (Smilingly): I live there. It’s my home and yes I’m a Hindu and I think Hindus can go to Pakistan. Where are you going?

SHAHNAWAZ: Going to Mom. India. Dad is calling me back. (After a pause) Hey, what a situation----a Hindu going to Pakistan and a Muslim going to India. Ha-ha.

DEV: This is post 1947 Naa!!!!

SHAHNAWAZ: Absolutely. So what are you doing in US??

DEV: I used to work for a bank for the last 7 years. Now finally going home!!!!

SHAHNAWAZ: Lost the job like other bankers (he is so happy to say that)??

DEV: No-No not at all. I decided to quit before letting the big crisis catch me. I myself wanted to go home.

SHAHNAWAZ: But man, your country is in such a mess. I mean, you never know when will Taliban take over Pakistan & you cannot trust anybody as everybody is same. Why don’t you stay back in America? You can do some other job if not boring banking. Atleast you will earn safely. A suggestion!!!

DEV: Shahnawaz, when there is a fire at your home, you don’t leave it or run like a coward. But you arrange for water. If people of Pakistan keep running to other countries then one day Taliban will definitely rule Pakistan.

SHAHNAWAZ: Hmmmm!!! You are right. But my question is that what you will earn there?? Moreover will you be safe (He looks straight to Dev’s face)????

DEV: Situation is not that bad. We are still stable & one can earn his living in Pakistan. Time will change and situation will definitely improve.

SHAHNAWAZ: Insha'Allah!!!!

DEV: By the way, why is your family calling you back?

SHAHNAWAZ: Well I came to do my MBA but recession broke the backbone of this part of the world. So dad says to come back and make future in India. He says the country is growing at 9 Perrcentt every year (his eyes expands while declaring this).

SHAHNAWAZ: What an irony (says with sad expression)!! You are going to your country because it is in a mess and facing crisis. And I am going back to enjoy my country’s growth at 9 Perrcentt every year. (He Pauses). Why can’t our countries grow together?????

DEV (Dev turns to Shahnawaz and is now completely in the debate): Shahnawaz, if capable people like you and me keep coming to this country then our motherland can never-ever actually grow. We dream of finding a job, marrying a girl and then settling comfortably in one of the suburb of US, thinking that we are developing ourselves (sarcasm is his voice). But we never ever realise that in the end we lose the battle. In the hunt for our personal growth we don’t even know that how much profits we have given to this country and how much loss we have cause to ours.

SHAHNAWAZ LOOKED STUNNED AS IF HE HAS HEARD SOMETHING HURTFUL. FOR THE FIRST TIME HE WITNESS THE INSIDE ANGER OF DEV MEHRA. AN ANGER BURNING FOR YEARS

SHAHNAWAZ: Nice dialogues man!!!! Bollywood needs you (he says to cool the debate). I know you are right. Sometimes I too feel the same. But why you only blame the brain-drain? Don’t you think that our countries should also end our cold war to grow together? It’s like two brothers tearing each other over a shit of papa’s property, trying to be as ignorant as possible to each other and saying “I don’t need you”. But the irony is that both desperately need each other. And in the whole circus, it’s the outside audience that’s having fun. The longest running circus of the world for the last 63 years (he try to justify his point with his hand movements). What you say??

DEV: I think you should write for Hollywood (Both laughs). We all know that what our common problem is. And that is, that heaven piece of land (his index finger try to point something) that has made our lives a hell. So better to ignore the problem and focus on other things which are not at all any problem for us.

SHAHNAWAZ: Don’t you think that ignoring will multiply the problem??

DEV: The problem is that this problem can never be solved. Even if the world’s greatest problem solvers sit and vomit their wildest imaginations or their bestest strategies.

SHAHNAWAZ: But why??

DEV: Because they don’t want to solve it, God dammit (yells)!! SHAHNAWAZ (Dev sounds irritated) the world doesn’t want our biggest problem to be solved. Can’t you see it? Every year, this superpower giant gives billions of dollars to Pakistan to fight terror which Pakistan uses to buy weapons and artillery from China at special prices in the name of fighting terror. And that money is used against India. At the same time China keeps India busy in fighting naxals. Like Pakistan it also supplies large number of weapons to Naxalites. And together both US and China are world’s top 2 countries.

SHAHNAWAZ: Then what to do??

DEV: Stop the fight. The more we fight the more we will burn. History says that wars and violence has burned more economies than recession and depression together. E.g.: Great Britain—World War 2, Sri Lanka----LTTE, Pakistan—Taliban war, Russia---Cold war, Now US----Iraq & Afghanistan War and India-----Naxalite and Kashmir war and Afghanistan-----Invasion of Afghanistan by Russia.

SILENCE ELUDES BETWEEN THE TWO AS IF BOTH HAVE TIRED VISITING THE LAST 100 YEARS. MEANWHILE SNOW HAS STOPPED ALREADY

SHAHNAWAZ: WOW!!! What a day. I never imagined all this. But in all these talks I’ve imagined that you and I are discussing as if I am the Prime Minister of India and you are the President of Pakistan. How quickly we get to know each other and how quickly we realized what the best solution is without even solving the problem. I wish if this could have been a summit like Agra and like this we would have beaten our differences to death

DEV: Agra Summit?? Even thousand such bullshit summits cannot even solve the problem. Every PM of yours and each President of ours is such a big coward who neither has the balls nor the heart to take a landmark decision. Both the loosers only meet to complicate matters and make the mess even more messier. You know the actual problem is that this problem has become so old and outdated that we don’t even know what to do with it. It is big mistake committed by our ancient leaders. Now we are facing the brunt.

As I said---people like you and me. Common people of Pakistan and common people of India can solve this problem. Because it is the problem of our home and it is the problem which we created. Politician’s sucks and they will only divide us.

Just imagine that you are driving a car on a road which is covered with deep forest on both the sides. It doesn’t even have any street light and there is no vehicle except for yours and the night is very dark. Suddenly your head light goes off!!! Mammaaa Miaaaaaaaaaa!!!

If I am not wrong then no one would dare to carry on driving on that scary and black road because of the low visibility. It means you are struck. This wouldn’t have happened if the tyre would have punctured. Because in most of the cases a tyre would have been repaired or replaced immediately but lights couldn’t (at that moment).

Inserting the metaphor into our real life, I believe that eyes play a very crucial role in a person’s life. I am not trying to downright any part of a human body but I am saying that eyes have an edge as far as importance is concerned. Eyes consume most of our energy because it is employed in the tinniest to the greatest work we do. In fact we consume this world because of our eyes. Even if you are thinking or in a brown study or just sitting idle then also your eyelids are open and if they are open then they are at work. Not only this but a person’s character and expressions are reflected in his eyes. Eyes are like a brand ambassador to a human body.

And when your energy is emptied by them you have to take rest to relax them. When you sleep the brain keep sending signals, the heart keep on beating, in fact every cell, every blood vessel is on duty. But it is the princess eyes which are busy taking rest. Even we blink after every second or two to give a break to them because of their sensitive nature and their high involvement.

The theme of this article is not to weigh the importance of eyes but to stress and point out its significance and role in today’s context. Dude, “The world is going online”. One of my friend once said that “life is on the web”. The recent example which will supplement my theory is that CAT (Common admission test) ---India’s most competitive and also the most sought after entrance exam now requires a mouse. I mean it has gone digital. An era started. The future might witness other competitive exams also going online. And in preparation a student might also be practicing in galore on a computer to be perfect on the D-Day, thus hectic working hours for eyes. Welcome to the digital world.

Remember some time back we stood in queues to deposit electricity and water bills, to withdraw money from banks, or to file tax. Often we wrote complaint letters to heads of different government organization. Today almost every transaction is a click away. You don’t need to stand in queues. Whether it is a complaint letter or a compliment one the professional mode of communication is an e-mail. 21^st century is getting accustomed to reading newspapers & magazines online, even you know where you are reading this article. In the future we’ll read books on Google’s online library. For every question we go to search engines, to learn things we watch videos and even listen to music on computers and laptops. The projects made by school children or other students are given birth online. Every Friday two to three films are released in India attracting our eyes in the name of entertainment. When a person is employed in an MNC he is given a laptop because without it he is a handicap. Welcome to the digital world.

The rich history is reminisced for talking and meeting to people personally, for the personalized and face to face social gathering and civic mixing and if not face to face then telegram to telegram. Today there is no face to face but Facebook to Facebook. Welcome to the digital world.

When everybody is extracting labor from eyes then why television should remain behind? The occupancy rate of shows on different channels have increased, news has gone 24*7, reality shows are never-ending and churning seasons after seasons, daily soaps are immortal with every 20 year leap, spirituality and yoga classes are more on TV than in actual, even the advertisement these days are so innovative that we can’t afford to miss them. More than 300 channels have something to offer to all of us so that we can’t ignore them. And there is a TV in every living room, so no rest for eyes. Welcome to the digital world.

Even free time is not free for the eyes. The different gadgets being introduced in life like Playstation, 3G, I-phone etc keep them occupied. Even if you are playing and relaxing, your eyes are handling the technicals of the game. Even if you drive a sports car, beat a sumo to death or type a text message your every complicated and thought out move is directed by the brain and executed by our dear eyes. Welcome to the digital world.

Well apart from these, there are other n numbers of digital ways to disturb the perfection of eyes but I don’t want to detail them. But from this I can conclude that eyes are the busiest organ in the human body like the Prime minister of India who is the busiest executive in the Indian Parliament and eyes like him are involved in every important step taken and decision made. You might argument that we do every work with hands, we walk with legs or stomach digest the most complicated food material or brain thinks a lot. But there are certain occasions when one of these organs is relaxing. Eyes never takes an off. Eyes are like the guiding force to this huge body mass. It directs all other organs to function in coordination.

I am only concerned for the people of this country. I am afraid that this digital world doesn’t plant eyeglasses on the innocent faces of our children or the people of our country are not typecast as “week eyes” candidates. Infact the crisis has started. Small and innocent eyes of so many children of our country under the tremendous pressure have taken the shelter of spectacles or lenses. The problem will perpetuate as the next decade will witness the mushrooming of internet and its penetration in every corner of India. There might be a computer or a laptop in every home. And this machinery creates addiction to children. So instead of playing outdoor games they prefer sitting in a chair and riding a sports bike.

Though I am not a communist and very much proud of our development but somebody very correctly said “development always cost you something”. Hope this is not the eyes of our countrymen.

Our Hindu Mythology has made our country proud of our ancient warrior Arjun who because of his perfect eyesight infact somewhat better than that could claim the eye of the fish without even seeing it directly. Let’s wish we have many Arjuns’ in this country.

Digitising is the need of the hour and even I don’t want to roadblock it. So there are some ways to take care of your eyes:-

1. Have your eyes checked every 12 month

2. Go for the best quality contact lenses

3. In summer, always wear sunglasses

4. Eat what is good for you and your eyes

Vitamins C, A and E, folic acid, selenium and zinc are definitely beneficial for the health of your eyes. It is known that whatever is good for your body is good for your eyes, too. So put a carrot and a bunch of grapes into your lunch box.

5. When you read or work on the computer make sure that the light is right

6. 10-10-10--every 10 minutes, look at an object 10 feet away for 10 seconds to get them adjusted to long-distance too, so you are ready when you get off the computer

7. If you wear contact lenses, take proper care of them

8. Don’t ever rub your eyes when you have something in your eye.

9. Exercise your eyes, and also be sure to relax them.

10. Adjust the screen settings. You will find that if you make your screen a bit more dull, it is actually easier to read. The screen should be just as bright as your surroundings, and should not appear to be a glowing box nor pitch black object.

Exercise

· Hold a pencil in front of you at arm's length. Move your arm slowly to your nose, and follow the pencil with your eyes until you can keep it in focus. Repeat 10 times

· Make up and down eye movements, starting from up to down. Do this 8 times. Then do the side to side eye movement, starting from left to right. Repeat this 8 times. Make sure not to add pressure to your eyes! It only worsens your vision!

· Close your eyes tightly for 3-5 seconds, then open them for 3-5 seconds. Repeat this 7 or 8 times

Eyes are under a huge pressure. You have to see the world, you have to see a lot of movies and tele series, everyday you have to read newspaper, you have to see yourself age, your children to grow, you have to meet new people, you have to drive, you have to play sports, you have to cook, you have to write, you also have to see your dreams and see them come true and many more. So there is a war ahead and you should be ready with your ammunition i.e. your eyes.

the power of motivation!!!!!

When some 1 motivates you, you feel like conquering the world, hitting the world. You feel like chasing dreams and facing whatsoever comes. The heart becomes brave heart and you walk like gladiator. Nothing seems stoppable and nothing seems tougher.

Only one thing fly in the mind—“yes we can”. Those few words of motivation, so easy to speak, that positive smile which says “you have got talent” so rare to spot, that pat on the back and that jaddu ki jhappi so easy to give is so rare in this world.

You feel like giving up when suddenly they meet you, like a prophet’s farishta. Inquire you “what are you doing”??? You might or might not disclose but gives a little hint. They give you an expression of achievement and say proudly “keep going my son, do good to yourself “.

God knows but sun rises again in the bottom of your heart and you decide not to give up so easily and set on your marks. Those few words of happiness and encouragement keep roaming in your mind; while you chase your dreams and make them happen one night.

Why there are so few precious motivators and large rallies of demotivators??? Those few priceless motivators so rare to find like an extinct dinosaur or a dying roar of an endangered tiger.

Unknown to the fact that they are inspiring some 1 because of their happy-go-lucky nature they have given this world some of the biggest findings and discoveries. Who knows behind a bulb, behind a law of gravity, behind a search engine and behind a trip to moon there is a motivator who just motivated the researcher. Who knows??

The infinite power of motivation is immense. The motivator can be a teacher, a guru, a mother, a friend, a fictional character, an author or a stranger on the train.

Let’s seek motivation or give motivation to others and make this world a better place to live in!!!

Post Script: Sometimes you have to motivate yourself which is very tough. In such situations I watch movies which are biography of successful achievers. Try it!!!

On 30^th July, 2010 at two in the afternoon my mother was making yogurt (Raita). She was short of Boondi (Gram Flour) so she ordered an unemployed like me to bring it for her from the nearby market. Luckily, the clouds were out too and were showering my place. For an opportunist this was an occasion to make the most of it. And so I was out in the middle to be embraced by those dark clouds to be one among their devotees.

But it was surely disappointing to encounter that almost half the market was closed. Water was not flowing but has chocked the small lanes and Galis. The day to day activity was walloped and people have taken shelter and sitting with Idle Hands. Small Roads were getting jammed and there was a constant barking of horns. The ugly and filthy place looks uglier. You cannot even walk because of the mess on the streets.

For Delhiites, who were literally dying due to the unmerciful sun and filling buckets of sweat, this could’ve been the heaven moment. But what it looks like, that downpour made their life more miserable. At least, a bright day allows them to work but everything looks abyss when it rains. In the economic times language, when rains come the common man thinks that the recession of high temperature is over but after a few moments of chik chik and zhikk zhikk (mess because of it) he realizes that it’s not a U shape recession but a W shaped.

All my observations gives me a feeling that monsoon in India is nothing but akin to worst moments of a terrorist attack, notorious war of Naxalite or the government born Emergency and Bharat Bandh. And in these moments the common man is requested (in fact forced) to stay at home, stop all the activities, shutter down shops and offices, keep the cars in the parking and wait till the atmosphere becomes normal (i.e. rainwater flows down the poky piped gutters). In fact this is just the beginning of a crisis. When halted at home they are forced to tolerate the ubiquitous power cuts and blackouts. This is because India is famous for “when rain uncle comes, electricity aunty goes”.

Now because of all such heinous acts of the government almost half the population is buried at home but what about the other half who is at the office and vigorous to celebrate the monsoon? I mean Government of India can’t see them leaving their offices early and visiting India Gate, Connaught Place, Lodi Garden, meeting their girlfriends/boyfriends and their relatives after a long time. So the best option is to cramp the hippies like them into a situation which leaves them hopeless and with no option. So we witness boundless traffic jams on all sides of the road, traffic lights saying goodbye and rain water filling every pothole. The nadir moment arrives when the last drop of the fuel is consumed resulting in breakdown of several engines on the road and retrograding the situation.

At this I remember of my friend who works at Greater Noida. One rainy night he found himself in a bus which was amid a huge traffic jam where nothing was movable. The happy ending was that the bus broke down. A complete mess on the road with every car occupying every space made him handicapped and the dude had no option but to rely on his natural wheels (legs) to walk 3 Km till Dhaula Kaun. The good thing was that in the process he made several friends. Because hundred’s of commuters who faced the same problem joined him in between. Somebody said “if you want to go fast go alone (as cars did) but if you want to go far then go together as he did”.

I can’t even estimate that how many people invectively swore on such disdainful nights, how many hearts burned, how many blood vessels swelled and how many plans were hanged in gallows without seeing the day of the light. But I do know one thing that most of the car owners must have cursed other car owners and must have blamed them for this mess on the roads of Delhi. And almost every one must have cursed the present government in power for ruining their day and their life. This thought must have entered millions of minds, that “when the capital of a country growing at 9.4% per annum is in such degradable state that even a little gift from nature can turn the whole system and infrastructure up-down and can gift us losses worth of crores then what about the rest of the country”.

According to my notion, neither Delhi nor this country is ready for a car/person because we can’t afford it. Please use the still to be developed public transport system as much as you can and save your plans from being crushed by others. And we can’t blame the unabashed government every time because it is already blamed too much and it shows no signs of improvement. We the people of India are both the problem and a solution of this country.

We giggled we smiled

We talked we walked

Unknown to the fact that our friendship will take us miles!!!

When I looked at her

She blossomed like a flower

Her half- closed eyes and a glorious smile

Would extract the most innocent happiness

From the bottom of my heart!!!

Assuming, that their company is forever!!!

She was Emma and he had a beautiful mind

But together they had a war

When going gets easy, their education life hit the bottom & a 2012 struck them

The result was, that the day after tomorrow was not together but alone, Home alone!!!

Though she lived 16 blocks away from my house but I never visited her

But we were always in touch, thanks to cellular!!!

At the age of 21 when I realized that it is love actually

The irony is that she is not with me!!!

Because

Khushiyon Ka Aashiyaana

If you are a diehard fan of frequency modulation (FM) Radio then you must be aware that it’s cluttered with advertisements from the Real Estate. The advertisements are targeted at the common man but hardly he listens or pays attention to it. Frankly speaking all the advertisements appear corresponding despite their hard efforts to create product differentiation. Some are like:

Have you ever given a thought that what these big fishes’ (builders) are doing? They are actually converting the whole of India into a jungle of concrete. I mean how far they will go to satisfy their greed for Midas touch? Banking on my memory a decade back there was only Delhi and no NCR (National Capital Region). Places like Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Dwarka, Gurgaon and Noida do existed but never bubbled with population. In fact these regions were nothing but agricultural lands or green reserves.

Then came what I call the “The Gold Rush”—the boom in the real estate. Every person out of ten dreamt of becoming a builder or a property dealer. Delhiites were desperate to just associate themselves anyhow with any property. People started realizing that an investment in the form of land is the best as it only propagates (though rare corrections come in rare occasions like slowdown). No Sensex, No fixed deposit, No mutual funds can inflate your investment as an investment in land can. Reason: it is scarce. So today we are witnessing mushrooming of residents and offices in the far flung areas of Dwarka, Ghaziabad, Noida etc. The people living in Delhi have opened corporate houses in NCR especially Gurgaon and Noida. And the ones who are working in Delhi have purchased houses in NCR. So every morning and evening we witness cross commuting of cars from Delhi to NCR and vice versa. The result is that this has contributed towards the mounting oil consumption and oil prices and hence inflation.

A statesman once said “the one who controls the resources is the king”. In a race to be one, builders acquired and still acquiring land leaving no time and complimenting it with the construction. But how come they are so fast in building streets of houses? How come these big fishes’ are expanding their enterprise without hiccups when old-fashioned municipal authorities create so many hindrances when a common man builds his house? In order to get the work done they have spread the influenza of corruption in the whole system. N number of babus are enjoying life in their deep pockets. These big fishes’ priority is to keep the corrupt crocodiles satisfied and happy so that everything goes smoothly as any hurdle in the game of property can risk tens of millions of Rupees.

The billion dollar question for a curious person like me is that from where these sharks are sourcing money. I mean our reluctant nationalised banks will deter from financing their diversified and expansionary business. And the probability of a builder sacrificing and risking his personal savings or mortgaging his own assets is very low; in fact these will not even fulfill the need. Here comes into picture the role of Black Money, Tax Havens and Laundering. Money borrowed from politicians, even in some cases mafias and unscrupulous money lenders. So in the race to be a king every good, bad and ugly individual is after the land and has given it a bad name of a Blood Diamond. Obviously we cannot stereotype this breed of workers. Some are even professionals and form a cooperative to pull money to invest.

But after so much melodrama, do Khushiyon ka Aashiyaana actually reaching the needy?? What I think, it is still difficult to get to everyone who is in need. The ones capable of paying high prices or looking for investment are the current buyers. It means, even after selecting and acquiring the land, constructing the houses, keeping babus happy still the shark is unable to satisfy the need of our mango people because of sky kissing prices. But why are these prices not friendly to common man’s pocket?

Firstly, the commercial interest of a builder is to make huge profits, so he scale up the margin and hence the final price. The recurring rate of interest on money borrowed and bribes paid to babus eats up his share of profit. So he is forced to keep the margin high. Secondly, the construction drive is pervasive in India, which has escalated the cost of raw material like cement, bricks, steel etc. Thirdly, in real estate no one can estimate the real price because of lack of regulation there is no MRP (Maximum Retail Price). So a builder who incurs 30 lacs in a house is a free bird while demanding 40 lacs the very next day unobjectionably and can mislead a buyer. Fourthly, there are speculators in between a builder and the family who will live in that house. They buy property for investment and further sale. So this adds up to the final price.

But do we only have private players to construct houses? What are the lazy asses of government doing? Organizations like Delhi Development Authority (DDA) are moving one legged on this road and doing things half heartedly, and if it does, its little efforts get hit of scams and opaque transactions. So poor buyers have only the option of private builders but the sad story is that builders are making “homes” only for the rich. The final alternative of purchasing the land and constructing the house is next to impossible for our mango people. So where will they go?? They have no choice but to keep roaming, chasing and searching societies, flats and apartments till they get “what big sharks call—Khushiyon Ka Aashiyaana”. So carry on Guyzz!!!!

Every country is distinguished because of its culture, language, food, geography, history and people. And all this is reflected and identified in its heritage and buildings. If you are in Manhattan or Tokyo, Beijing or Kolkata you will relate that place with its heritage. Same is the case with Connaught Place, Old Delhi even South Delhi; every region has its own charm and personal identity.

But when I have to locate an address in the NCR (Non Capital Region) why every place looks similar to me? Whether it’s HansRaj Appartments or Maheshwara, whether IndraMahal, or Dwarka Sectors, why the roads keep confusing me? The point I am trying to make here is that as like Delhi’s 100 malls which are twins in every sense and have everything in common, these builders are doing nothing but “copycat”---by constructing structures which look brothers and sisters and gives you no differentiated experience & feeling when you are exposed to them. It gives you a feeling as if builders are working according to a single map. And their aim is to make all places look similar. Though this can be classified as an unjustified demand in a country where people don’t even have a quarter to live.

The article is not to curse the private builders. At least they are filling the gap of huge supply. And the demand is so high that no one is interested whether the place he/she is living at has an aesthetic feel and a reflection of country’s culture because basic necessity comes first and then design and art!!!!

Do you sleep in the afternoon or do you feel heavy-eyed once you have your lunch? Well, I don’t know about you but this is me. The guy who sleeps or literally dies for 2-3 hours in the afternoon (especially summer’s) and exit into an oblivion. You can label me as a miscreant according to Chacha Nehru’s notion that “Aaraam Haraam Hai” or my parents comment on me—“is umar mai to aadmi lohe ke chane chabaa leta hai” (though I am only 21 and my Colgate teeth can’t afford to taste sugarcane properly what about iron pellets) but what should I do? The moment I eat my lunch I feel as if somebody has pull down my power plug. Others might sell horses when they sleep but I trade the whole of Race Course when I do it. It is as if I am the most relaxed person on this earth, done all his deeds, fulfill all his duties and taken retirement and enjoying his pension.

This is just the preface; I shall describe you the process. Being a foodie I enjoy my delicious diet t0 the fullest. In fact I think that my constant demands and crying needs for “Swadisht Khaana” have forced my mother to learn cook better. So now when she serves cuisines like Rajma Chawal, Kadi Chawal, Chole-Bhature, Puri-kheer, Dosa, Dum aalo, Naan-makhani daal, Fried Rice-curd etc I actually overeat it because I am helpless in front of my tasting buds. After some time of the consumption I feel like a magnet is straining all my muscles, there is a sense of laziness in the body as if blood vessels have formed a union and went on a strike so that their appeal for the rest can be incorporated. The brain stopped the calculation, the eyes shutter is getting to shut with every passing second, the mouth tries to open its gates as wide as possible with every yawn and buckets of water is thrown from inside the body through the eyes. Now if I switch on the water cooler in this war ilk situation, the air coming from the fans push me, in fact throws me on the bed. There have been situations when I tried so much but in the end capitulated, left everything I was doing and raced to sleep. I don’t know why but I can even prostrate on the cool floor in this situation. I think I can relate this to Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. In his basic needs, once your stomach is full, next might the sleep/rest, so ultimately you eat-sleep, eat-sleep.

If I observe myself in the last 10 years (which I can remember properly) I have felt sleepy, lazy and almost slept whenever and wherever I have been, during the afternoon hours. During school days, I tend to eat Parantha-sabzi, rice, sandwich etc and then we used to play till the last bell of recess. After the recess, when the sun was on the top, body was producing tones of sweat and stomach was digesting the food from the crop fields, teacher used to enter the class and teach subjects like ugly History, dimwit Geography, scary Biology and insane Math. At that point of time I tried my best not to lie on the desk because then I would have been caught but was forced to sleep with almost 90% of my eyes shutter closed and both the eyeballs giving me the picture of my nose (that’s what they see when you sleep with your eyes open, a little). Even my other classmates were following me for the reason that those teachers were ennui and taught without body and soul.

During college life, when I was doing an internship in Delhi, the office staff used to lunch between 1 pm-2 pm. Post lunch I never left any opportunity to sleep whether in bus whether in metro or even on the table where I used to work. After my battery was charged then only human machine allowed me to resume work. In fact recently I was doing a theatre workshop. After the lunch, we always used to watch a documentary on theatre or videos of past plays. In the big auditorium when darkness looms and two big Air Conditioners were making the atmosphere chilling even the scintillating voice of Naseeruddin Shah and classic plays by the legendary Habib Tanveer couldn’t stop me from taking the advantage of zero visibility and selling the Race course once again as if it is my fundamental right. And this time too some of my colleagues joined in but our shutters were completely locked.

So this is me, the proud individual who is yawning and sleeping for almost 20 years and that too without a break. When I introspect on why this happens that once you are over with your lunch you feel lethargic; the answer comes that the nature has made humans like this. Even we sleep after the dinner so why not lunch. So better leave it the way it is.

There have been a few key observations; you feel like sleepy more in summer than in winter, boredom will dig out the sleep from any corner of your body, you will literally want to sleep more after lunch and a heavy lunch is a friend of sleep. Even I am not the only one who is doing this crime, if you watch out carefully you will find that most of the shopkeepers prefer taking rest or a nap after lunch, even rickshawwallahs can be seen lying and adjusting their body size in their rickshaw during afternoon. Some of the relatives cannot be reached after the lunch because they have the habit of sleeping.

So now as the life gets busy and my inner “JawaharLal” (soul) has started saying “aaarm haraam hai”, to combat this addiction I have pasted an A-4 sheet on my room wall which declares “those who sleep after the lunch live less” and I try to watch a movie after the lunch (if at home) because the UV rays of the machine which don’t sleep don’t allow my shutters to go down!!!!

EATERS COMA is a new addition to dictionary. It means a condition characterized by sluggishness, sleepiness, and often a lack of motivation to do anything but rest/relax or sleep; a condition whose onset occurs shortly after a meal.

Film Review: The Hurt Locker.....

Small Reality, Big Impact

Through news channel & movies we all have witnessed war coverage’s--heard gunshots, seen sentry movements, explosions, and fire, blood etc etc etc….

But have we ever seen the emotions of a soldier who goes to war?? The Hurt Locker is a 21^st century war movie which actually shows the pity condition of US army fighting in the deadly battlefield of Baghdad.

Sergeant James (Jeremy), Sergeant Sanborn (Anthony) and Owen Eldridge (Brian) are soldiers of the US army stationed in Baghdad whose duty is to disarm and contain the deadly bombs camouflaged by a potential enemy with the clear intention to further maximum damage.

Sanborn and Eldridge, scared and unwilling, performing their contractual obligation by testing waters of the armpit of the world (Baghdad) so they can escape from this hell once their tenure is over. But they are held back and put into an extreme danger when they are joined by their new senior, a devil, Sergeant James.

The 3 soldiers represent 3 kinds of emotions any mortal would have in any situation:

James--a knucklehead who is totally confident, in fact reckless when dealing with bombs which he calls “baby”.

Sanborn--who behaves normally both fearful as well as hopeful that he might or might not die.

Eldridge--a gone case, whose all hopes are shattered of returning alive to his home when mission ends.

I liked The Hurt Locker because though it shows a small reality but it created a big impact which is, that, soldiers are grudgingly doing their duty because nobody will give a shit if they die in the Iraq War. And it does leave you with sympathy for the innocent both the US soldier and Iraqis who got killed in this war.

The film is successful in creating the aura of a war which is rough, scary and real. It does seem lengthy in the end and the music could have played a bigger role. In the performance the jackass Jeremy Renner stands out and reminds me of young Russell Crowe.

Life is getting very boring. The ubiquitous terrorism, plane crash, road accidents, diseases, naxalism and recession has created the fear of death in many mighty hearts. Now we think that the probability of death has increased.

So let’s embrace death. Let’s enjoy the Mirinda of death. Let’s solve this mystery that what is after death by walking over the symphonies of death.

For so long I’ve been looking for a person who can share with me that how death looks----is it she or he?? Is it beautiful or ugly??? Is it black or white or as colorful as a rainbow??? But sadly I couldn’t find such a creature.

So this has emboldened me to start a new consultancy. I want to be the first one to actually enlighten people that what death is all about. What are the features of death? Does it only have benefits or shortcomings too?

But the dilemma is that how should I die? Already surviving a boring life I want to observe death as an American Pie movie embedded with prom nights, lost virginities and naked mile. Or I want to taste it as the Raja Special Dosa (Raja is a snacks corner nearby my college) embedded with all the masalas, oil and butter produced in the Indian subcontinent. Or let’s death be a “Manoranjan Ka Baap” like Sachin’s 200 in ODI or Kumble’s 10 wicket haul in Test.

But the Q remains the same. What should be my escape route to death? I don’t want to be tagged as a loser by hanging myself to a ceiling fan, throwing myself on the railway track, taking sleeping pills or the cheap rat killing poison. Cutting my arteries will be too “Bollywoodic”. And for me these all methods are “shift+delete” mode which are indoctrinated for useless files or for files which are of no use (in this case people who are of no use). But I am special. I have to make my death memorable and historic. Following can be one of the way:-

• Me having sex with my neighbour’s daughter and his father caught us in his bed and chop me into pieces.

• Enjoying the sumptuous wine and then jaywalking naked on the highway. A lorry will come and hit me down.

• Landing myself in Pakistan and becoming the 1st whistle blower in the world by painting their walls with the Indian message that:-

“doodh maangoge kheer denge; kashmir maangoge cheer denge”

The result will be that I’ll be cremated as a true Indian and there might be a national holiday on my death anniversary.

• Rapes are always forced on females. I can be the 1st person to rape a man and this male dominated society will punish me severely for this illicit and barbarian act. I will meet death after gaining all the sympathies from women.

• This one is my personal favourite. After watching the rip-roaring video of Shakira (Hips Don’t Lie) almost 200 times when I came to know that she’ll be performing in India and when I actually watch her lustrous hips shaking and lying just 20 meters away from me, my adrenalin gave me a heart attack. Shakira sobbed on my death and assuming me to be her true fan started performing free in India every year to commemorate my death anniversary.

• The best way to reverberate about my suicide is to send a letter to the President of India asking him/her to grant me death as I am fed up of my life. Now every day 1000’s of Indians die and nobody gives a shit about it. But this will make me popular as “Breaking News” proletariats will not leave an inch of my news and there will be SMS’s, discussions, polls, and editorials questioning my decision.

If I keep thinking then this list will make my suicide note a boring dossier which I don’t want. I want to end my 72 per minute heartbeat in a way that makes people happy not because our oversized population reduces by 1 but remembering me as an opportunist who doesn’t even spare the opportunity of death to experiment and explore. So let’s die!!!!!!!!

At present India’s GDP is $1.243 trillion or Rs 57.178 trillion (1 dollar= Rs 46) and we are the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world. According to economists, by 2020 we’ll be the frontrunners of growth. Complacency can be sensed here as we are satisfied with the current happenings as well as the forecast. But I think that by now we could have been the fastest growing economy. Why wait 2020?

India’s population is 115 crore. This means that in India we have 230 crore hands (leaving physically challenged aside) and each hands per capita is Rs 24,783 to the economy. Don’t you think this is less? I think it is.

9.5% of Indians are unemployed. But are they the only ones who negatively hit our economy? Well this article talks about those who doesn’t do any work (inspite being capable), those who wrongly use their power, those who should not be doing the work they are doing, those who doesn’t have work, those who doesn’t allow others to work and those who work but doesn’t add anything.

1. In Bharat (poor India) a farmer perseveres as he extracts the rich food from the soil. But impediment like drought forces him to sit idle because more than 60% of Indian farming depends on rainfall. If these unrewarded farmers are provided with irrigation facilities, technical know-how, training and credit from the GOI, we Indians will not only feed us but the whole world.

2. Government doesn’t create wealth but people do. Each and every Indian industry is operated by its labour force. But when they goes off work & strikes it affects the daily productivity and we loss crores of Rupees. Similarly, teacher are quintessential to school and colleges. But several hours of education goes unutilised when they sit on their notorious dharnas. In a nutshell, strike is detrimental to any country

3. The king of government offices i.e. its officials, love tea breaks, chatting and gossiping, use office phones to converse with relatives. Rules say “stay in line” but I ask why there are queues in India? Undoubtedly, when an incapable person is employed at the counter, queues have to be longer and files have to wait. .

4. Police is the busiest authority in India. You can never find policemen idle though actually they are. Police is never interested in writing down the FIR as a few FIRS reflects low crime rate which portrays the hard work of police. And if written then who is interested in solving the case? Or sometimes it’s better to fake the encounter than to play the chor-police game.

5. Considerable time of any proletariat Indian goes in commuting. The majority use public transport. Sadly, India’s public transport cannibalized with wheels and a speedometer up to 200km/hr is one of the sluggish. State owned buses don’t turn up and if they come they travel in pairs. It’s a trick they use. Private buses can’t afford its passengers to be on time. They don’t run unless there are enough commuters. The passenger trains in India are the worst example of punctuality. Even sometimes this character is also happily portrayed by our passenger airservices. Every second wasted cost our GDP

6. There is another service which takes 15 years to deliver. Average time consumed by our judiciary to decide a case is 15 years. So Indians prefer to be a victim than to be involved in court cases.

7. Sometimes, we are forced to sit idle. Power failure is ubiquitous in India. As power fails, every major activity comes to halt. Traffic jams, data loss, no entertainment, no rest/sleep, no production, no customer handling. People say “no power-----no water.” Infact many villages are still to be electrified and a few which are electrified enjoy very less number of electric hours. So Bharat have only sunlight hours to work.

8. The so called creative people in India believe that grass is always greener on the other side. They do creative work but don’t apply their creativity. They are our idle brains. Copying somebody’s music, lyrics or even film and saying we are inspired from it is a cushy number. A few uses a whole book as a script and then don’t even credit the writer. Even article and column writers keep pasting each others work in the journals. Some anxiously wait for foreign authors to write something so that they can also get inspired from it. Some only believes that life is an internet and follows Google for every question without pressurizing their 1.5 kg (containing 50–100 billion neurons) brain.

9. As the saying goes idle brain is the home of the devil. Partisans influenced by politicians create violence and dismantle the whole public property. Several are killed, many injured and the state comes to rest. Why? Because some people migrated to our state and grabbing our pie of bread. At times reasons are that we want a separate state because we are discriminated. Nothing is worst than a curfew imposed and all movements sealed.

10. Interestingly, Indian economy started showing losses in 1970 when skilled diaspora stopped returning to India and at the same time begins the America’s golden period. Though highly skilled professional people might be sending remittance galore but those hands could have worked for our motherland and the total money out of which small remittances are sent to us could have been generated here.

11. In every corner of our society, in each famous shop, at most of the thellas, factories etc. White Tigers of India are working as servants and cheap labour. At the age when their hands should be holding books and comics they do washing, cleaning, loading, sweeping, serving and begging. They are the future entrepreneurs, teachers, lawyers etc but if the situation prevails then one of them will be a local thief, one will join naxal, one with terrorist org. some will be unemployed and beggars and some will be drug addicts.

12. We have talked about idle hands, idle brain and now idle space. Materialism has impacted Indians profoundly. Everybody wants a personal car as a symbol of style statement. It hurts me to see that in the age of global warming most Indians prefer enjoying driving alone. No car pooling. Those empty seats if filled could have saved black gold and saved our lungs and our planet.

I don’t know that whether you’ll agree with me or not but I think our President’s hands have less to do. It’s a very debatable question that whether India’s PM is more powerful or President? Our President might be doing more work than our PM but don’t you think we listen more of PM. Our PM is more visible in news and is involved in almost all the decisions. What I’ve observed is that for everything we run to PM. Instead some of PM’s decision powers should be under President’s authority so the work is equally divided and decisions are taken speedily and considerably.

In this whole article I’ve tried to summaries the activities which add to non productivity, negative returns, decelerating growth and development though they might be numerous.

If everybody does the right work at the right time then we don’t have to wait for decades and miracles to be a superpower.

Whoever coined the phrase, “Age is nothing but a number” was absolutely right. Whether you are 18 or 80, you are never too old or too young to seize the day.

Well, these above lines are for none other than the 2 great people of world cricket who are legends in themselves. They are Adam Gilchrist (former Australian wicketkeeper) & Anil Kumble (former Indian leg spinner & Captain).

You must be wandering that it’s been sometime that these two heroics have retired from cricket, so why this man is talking about them?

Well, “There is no smoke without fire”. Indian premiere league’s (IPL) 2^nd edition in

South Africa

forced me to pen down my admiration for both theses cricketers. Its not that I am not a fan of these two. Due to my love for cricket, Anil Kumble has always been my favorite player for his “do or die” attitude. While I always looked up to Adam Gilchirist for his perfection behind the stumps and his cult batting style.

Both of them after giving their loads of contribution to the world of cricket chose the retirement mode when they were at their peak and their fans couldn’t stop asking for more. Their retirement broke many hearts; even I was too upset with it. This is because in any sport, when a sportsman took retirement it means “he is gone-forever”. You’ll never get a chance back to watch him playing again. That’s why sports are more energetic and powerful as players put everything they have, in it as who knows when retirement time comes. But Indian premiere league which is referred to as an Indian domestic tournament though no less than any international tournament gave these two guns an opportunity to get back to the cricket field for some live action.

, Kevin Peterson got this job. Before the starting of this mega tournament, everybody marked 20-20 for young legs. Most suspected the capability of players aged above 34. The tournament kicked in style and on the very 1^st day in a match B/W Bangalore & Rajasthan, Kumble bagged 5 wickets for 5 runs which are till now the best bowling figure in IPL 2009 and 2^nd best overall after Sohail Tanveer’s 6 for 14. Due to his splendid performance, Rajasthan got out for 58 runs which is the lowest ever total by any team in 2008/2009. It was very clear that jumbo will not be easy to handle.

On the other side Deccan chargers (DC) registered 4 consecutive wins under Gilly & were sailing at the top spot with 8 points. The team which fetched only 2 wins for themselves under VVS Laxman in IPL 2008 looked solid with only 1 motive: to lift the IPL trophy. Some superstitious people attributed their earlier wins to their newly selected blue color dress compared to their colour cream and black in IPL 2008. But their captain behind the stumps with his green coined eyes looked harder and hungrier for the win than any body else in the team.

After there 1^st win Bangalore lost match after match and they once again looked weak as they were in IPL 2008 (winning only 4 matches under Rahul Dravid and finished 2^nd last in the points). Due to the England-West Indies test & one day series to come by, Kevin Peterson called off. He chose to play for his country rather than in IPL. This gave Kumble a chance to lead Challengers & the team bounced back to victory in a nail biting match against Punjab.

There were ups and downs, infact less downs for team Deccan in the tournament but under the extraordinary guidance of Gilly they were able to give power packed performances when needed the most to remain in the semifinal run. Gilchirist himself took the charge in many matches and batted destructively. He was the 2^nd highest run getter in the tournament. He scored 495 runs, 77 runs behind Mathew Hayden.

Kumble’s Bangalore lost the momentum in between but in the late league matches they thrashed every team which came their way. They chased 180+ runs to beat Team Kolkata and they then defeated the 3 strongest teams- Delhi, Chennai & Deccan in a row. Jumbo’s experience on the ground is such that he didn’t allow these 3 teams to cross 130+ score in those 3 matches. As a result, Deccan & Challengers both made it to the Semis.

But it was never easy for both Deccan & Challengers. In semi finals they had to face formidable Team Delhi which lost only 4 matches out of 14 and Team Chennai which had smitten other teams. But despite Delhi’s huge potential they couldn’t make it to the finals as Adam Gilchirist created history by scoring the fastest 50 of IPL & going on to score 85 off 35 balls against them. He led his team to victory on his own terms. He is the 1st person to score 900 runs in IPL. In the 2^nd Semifinal match, Chennai the obvious choice for win against Bangalore lost their ground to Jumbo. He was very calm & composed on the field in that match and his batsmen did not let him down and chased the given target firmly.

The tables were turned, what could not be expected took place. The IPL 2 final match was going to be played between the 2 weakest teams of IPL 2008. The 2 teams finished with last (Hyderabad) and 2^nd last (Bangalore) rank last year.

The downturn was only because of change of captains. Both Kumble & Gilly were able to extract performances. And extracting performances is the trait of a leader.

Gilly used RP Singh, Rohit Sharma & Pragyan Ojha very well. RP Singh finished with highest number of scalps (23) in the tournament. While Kumble got Kallis, Taylor, Parveen Kumar worked for him very well. He himself got 2^nd highest number of wickets in the tournament, i.e. 21.

Well, in all if we see, IPL 2009 will be remembered for players aged above 34-35.

Players like Mathew Hayden, Murlidharan, Symonds, Kallis, Sachin and Shane Warne contributed to the high performance graph of senior players. Hayden (a retired cricketer) was the highest run getter, while Warne another retired player is the coach and the captain of team Rajasthan (which won IPL 2008). He looked dangerous and keen in his performances this time too. Some 35+ aged people didn’t get the chance to play like Mcgranth, Shaun Pollock, and Chaminda Vaas. Saurav Ganguly (

’s most successful captain) wasn’t thought capable to lead Team Kolkata. As a result the team slipped to the last position with 3 wins.

The 3^rd edition of IPL is round the corner and I am looking forward for some out the box action from these guns.

So its better that we don’t underestimate these aged people. It’s just your desire and attitude that matters the most. And as some one said “life starts at 40”.

But from IPL, we can learn a lesson. In

, the population above 65 i.e. retired age is above 50 million. They are the resources which is going unused. So much money is being spent on pension schemes. Though this force will not be efficient in the physical work but there can be a field where they can outperform any one.

Just think about it. Old is Gold!!!!

More than 26.4 million number of cases are pending in the Indian Subordinate courts. 38.7 lakh cases (as on 1/1/09) are pending in High Courts while 2.64 crore are there in the Trial courts. On the other hand Supreme Court, the highest court of appeal in

India

has more than 52 K (as on March, 09) cases pending. Yes I know that this figure has taken you aback as it did to me but it is just one aspect of the laziness of the Indian judiciary. Meanwhile we are also short of 234 HC and 2998 lower court judges as on October, 09.

Now as a common man I don’t know about the salaries of the judges (HC & SC), I am unaware about the working of all types of courts in India, what it takes to be a lawyer and how a lawyer becomes a judge, how a judge is decided for a specific case and etc etc etc………n items.

I just want to ask these black and white people that what’s going on? Is it a joke? Are you guys on a holiday? Why you all are not working and if working then why work like a bullock cart and having brakes of a Hayabusa.

In today’s India of Google chrome, nuclear deal, a non-left government, 3G, worlds cheapest car and our 3 Oscars why justice even after 62^nd independent year is like a battle to be won? Why it takes not months not years but several decades to solve a court case? And if you are still lucky then only you can attain justice.

Frankly speaking, I find Indian judicial system the most corrupt and most lethargic in the world. It has turned itself into a fixture for powerful people. Undoubtedly it lacks accountability, infrastructure, speed (infact sprint), competition, compassion, pledge, rewards and suffers ineptitude and corruption. In a nutshell it lacks revolution.

Before going further let’s take a few examples. A father is fighting for the justice for his daughter who was ragged to death for 10 years now. Every week this man travels from Kerala to Supreme Court. A case of a land being illegally used by government authorities during partition for refugees is still on. Lets not forget the infamous Bombay blast 1993 case (14 years and the longest running trial in Indian history), the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case (25 years), Uphaar cinema fire case 1997 (4 accused died in the first 7 years of trial, with 344 hearings the case ran for almost a decade), BMW case 1999 (9 years), Bhopal gas tragedy 1984, the world’s worst industrial disaster ever (25 years) and many more.

Ok let’s take a fresh one. We all know who Ajmal Kasaab is and what he did to

India

on 26/11. There are several videos showing him carrying a gun and firing like anything. The only terrorist who was nabbed after 26/11 had confessed his crime and we all know that he has no chance of escaping and a punishment of less than a death sentence will not be accepted to any Indian. But the case is still on to punish a barbarian like him.

A charge sheet of 11,000 pages was made for his trial. I can’t believe it that in a milieu of global warming and a stress on conserving trees our judiciary wasted precious 11,000 pages in just writing what he did and under what section he can be punished. Even a car was hired for bringing that charge sheet to the court. I am again repeating, every one knows what he did so can’t we put it in a simple way. Like a single file or a CD. Our court is still finding the witnesses to identify Kasab for the massacre which was witnessed by the whole world. But we can’t do anything, in actual our system lacks. Why there is not a single judge appointed for every case and why he is not accountable to solve the case? In some cases 35 different judges presided over a single case in different hearings.

Why there is not an expense fixed for every case? Victims have complained of spending even crores in a single case. It means the poor doesn’t have the right to justice.

Why there is not a time period for a case to be solved within every level of court (HC, SC, district etc)? Like in some cases 5^th generation is fighting for the justice.

That’s why our politicians commit crimes so frequently and easily. Infact many cases pending, are, of politicians. Till the case is solved (if any) the politician is too old or have died. Ruchikas case is a recent example.

The fact that a country of more than a billion has only 1 Supreme Court bewilders me. Under which act this unintelligent rule is incorporated? For God’s sake, one SC means that a person living (says

Assam

) will have to travel every week or month to Delhi in case he has appealed in SC. And we all know that how fast our cases are solved.

On one hand the person is victimised and on the other he faces tribulations of an inferior service. This will continue till he decides to give in his towel. This is the sole reason Indians are scared of the world of courts. No one wants to be stucked up in the “court-Khechari ke Chakkar”. That’s why no one willingly comes forward to help the injured in road accidents, no one wants to be a witness in any court case. Because they know that they will be sucked up by courts endless hearings.

According to my point of view, there should be 1 SC in every state and capital territory or the least there should be 1 SC in every 4 zones of

India

. All 4 of them should have equal rights. Once the verdict passed by any SC will be accepted by other 3 as unswerving. At least it will be convenient for a person who is traveling from Kerala to Delhi every week.

Hitherto, I am constantly castigating the Indian judiciary but there are some other reasons also for the tardy results. The philosophy/ideology of our judiciary is that that it treats the accused as innocent till proven guilty. It hears both the parties very carefully and gives equal opportunity to both to prove their point. And it’s fine also that a death sentence or other punishment cannot be handed till the judiciary acclimatize itself to the case and circumspect before taking any decision.

But in this entire cycle, the lawyers/ solicitors are the real culprits who keep on extending the case as they are paid by their respective parties for every single hearing. It’s a shady business. Its archetype can be seen in the famous TV program “office-office” in which lawyers of both the parties were in unison and didn’t let the case to finish in order to fill their pockets.

Till now whatever I have vehemently said is only from the perspective of the common man. I don’t know and neither am I interested in the amendments, acts, sections, resolutions and jurisprudence of the Indian judiciary. I am only concerned about the delivery mechanism of justice. What interests me is the quality of service, so that I am not scared of entering the world of black and white. Any country is regarded successful or developed on the basis of the quality of justice it delivers in a constrained time frame to its citizens. As justice is the right to every citizen!!!

We are still unsure who created this world. But whosoever did it knew this very well that the world can't be run with either of the chromosomes.

So the creator sent both the Adam and the Eve to the Earth. It means that the creator never distinguished Adam from Eve & Eve is equally responsible as Adam is in making this world the way it is today. But haven’t we pushed today’s Eve far behind Adam? Isn’t she exploited in every possible way?

A woman who gives birth is herself not preferred for the birth. People desire a boy. And if she is born her family feel robbed with it. Her struggle starts from the day she enters the world.

In villages daily chores are thrown upon her. Reason: she is to get married. In cities she is sent to school & even college but her education goes untapped when she is not allowed to work.

Girls always outperform boys in X and XII boards but very less pursue further education. Parents don’t want their daughters to go outside their respective states for studies. There has always been a scarce of girls in prominent IIT’s as well as IIM’s.

When a few makes it to the working stage they have limited choices which are safe, secure and a full 9 to 5 job. The ambitious women who wants to be a model, an actress, airhostess, journalist, corporate, RJ, VJ, musician, IAS etc beleaguered against all the odds they have to face.

The media, film & fashion industry is notorious for casting couch. The Hindi films are continuing with their 40+ old actors who are always casted against a new actress aged 20-25 years for each film. Another example is James bond movies which exploit females only to add some masala. Similar is the concept of item dance in Hindi films.

Big corporate likes to have a female secretary to add charm & beauty to their office. In professions like police, journalism, corporate etc woman is underestimated. Males don’t like a female boss. Kiran Bedi though most deserving person for the Delhi Police Commissioner Post was overlooked, thus she resigned.

It is getting very tough for a woman to work peacefully. She is only considered for her beauty and not her brain. The exclusive Miss World/Universe contests’ are cashed only on her beauty.

A male child is preferred because parents want returns in theirs old days. And I am not blaming them. Everybody wants to feel secure in his old days. The girl will be married, so she will not earn and give money. It is only the son who can do this. But this is not the sole reason. The society norms have created a hell for the Y-chromosomes.

Hitherto, a girl lives with her parents they are always tensed about her purity & sexuality. They want to keep her safe and preserve her till her marriage. Why??

Because in our society views about a girl can be manipulated to such an extent that she could be tagged. This ultimately risks her marriage and it’s her family who has to bear the brunt. The struggle never stops here.

Parents are always in a hurry to get her married & to get rid of the burden of responsibility. And once marriage takes place it is she who has to leave her home, who has to adopt a new name (say, Mrs. Ram Kapoor). Her identity gets lost as if she is a property and has been bought. As a property is once sold the owner gets the keys. Similarly, she once married wears a mangal sutra, sindoor, sari, bindi, burqha.

I want to meet the person who created these laws. What I can say is that it is a man dominated society. Men don’t trust their own selves. Husbands enforce such things on their wives to protect them from other men & they themselves indulge in women exploitation in some way or other. Like, Polygamy & Triple Talaq is legal for Muslim men in India. Many Muslim wives are mostly kept in home and if go out then have to be entirely covered in burkha. Many households are only run by women with nasty men busy in gambling and drinking. Turpitude man beats her wife, leaves or kills her for dowry & pressurizes her to give birth to a boy. Man doesn’t stop his dominance here, some go on to the extent of illegal trafficking of women & opening brothels.

When the answer to the controvertible question that whether the supreme power of the world is “he or she” is unknown then how can we be so prejudiced towards the human she? How can we consider her fragile and limp? Are we unaware of the hidden powers of a woman? Have we forgotten her different avatars? Like Goddess Kali she can devastate everything as Rani Laxmibai did to the British. As Saraswati she is the bank of knowledge and art like the legend Lata Mangeshkar. Like Goddess Lakshmi she amasses wealth as the richest Christy Walton or Alice Walton. But one role that nullifies every other role is that “she” is also a mother. Everybody in this world living or dead, achiever or loser, creator or destroyer, ruler or follower, thinker or non thinker is a child of one or other she. Mother has been given the most superior place in this world. She can’t even think her child getting the minutest of injuries then why we kill her, assault or mistreat her. The film “Juno” very beautifully portrays this when a girl aged 20 named Juno got pregnant and decided not to abort because as a mother she can’t kill her child.

Politically speaking India’s sex ratio is 933 females/1000 males and female infanticide is high. Eave teasing which is not even properly defined is common while rapist usually are not caught or let off. If the practices continue the future looks bleak & that day is not far off when there will be only grooms and no brides.

Most of the married women in India are homemaker though they are not given due importance as their husbands perceive that their wives do nothing. India functions because of its working class which mostly constitutes of men. The urban class enjoys at least a one weekday off but the homemaker don’t enjoy the same. Think for a moment, that if our loyal homemaker strikes and go off the work for few days, then will our husbands be able to cope with both work and home? We all know the answer. As India depends on its working class. The working class depends on ladies working at home. So India will stop functioning if our ladies gets off work.

My views in this article are not targeted towards any specific group. They are my personal observations. Some might say that I have taken a full stand for women though she is also blamed for epic wars like Mahabharata, Ramayana or Trojan War.

In encapsulation I will say that Parents love to have daughters. Some fathers wish for 2 or 3 of them but our society norms and culture prevents them from doing so.

But those girls who survived and nurtured well did wonders. Look around and you will see “She” is pervasively spreading the magic. From daring Barkha Dutt to imaginative Mira Nair, from courageous Sunita Williams to patriotic Kalpana Chawala, from the Queen Elizabeth to heart throbbing Shakira, from the gorgeous Aishwarya to in-command Sonia Gandhi, from powerful Agatha Christie to disciplined Kiran Bedi, from dreamer Bachendri Pal to mother of all Mother Teresa!!!

My inspiration is “Rachida Dati” the 1^st Muslim Cabinet minister in French president Nicholas Sarkozy’s team. She returned to work 5 days after giving birth.

So encourage her & let her live freely. Give her education, teach her self defense & show her love. If you’ll introspect you’ll realise She is no less than a son.
